Does my child receive a grade in Band?
YES. Scholars will be graded on participation, practice logs, playing tests, and other assignments.
What are "practice logs" and are they mandatory?
YES, practice logs are mandatory and will be counted for a homework grade (35%). To receive full credit, scholars must practice at least 15 minutes every day (Monday through Friday) for a total of 75 minutes for the week. Scholars must upload and submit their practice time through EEi (www.EssentialElementsInteractive.com) by Sunday night at midnight each week.
What is EEi?
"EEi" is my abbreviation for a website we use in class and at home. The website is: www.EssentialElementsInteractive.com. This is a free website that allows me to communicate with my scholars, post assignments, view scholars' practice times, etc. Scholars also have a cool function called the "Music Studio" where they can practice the material we are playing in class in a very cool way. Parents, if you would like for me to link your child's account to your email, please contact me. This will allow you to receive all of the emails I post to scholars.
When should my child bring their instrument to school?
Everyday that s/he has band.
May my child leave their instrument in the band room? How does this work?
YES. Your child should bring their instrument to the band room when they arrive to school (between 8:45 - 9:15am). They can put their instruments in a locker. The room will always remain locked unless myself or another teacher is present.
Will my child perform in a concert?
YES. Actually, your child will perform in 2 concerts, Winter and Spring! More information like dates, attire, and showtimes will be emailed to you when the time draws near.
My child would like to receive one-on-one help. Will you meet with my child?
YES. I would love to help your child. Please email me and we'll set-up a time to meet either before or after school some day.
